Flake named ‘Colbert’ disgraces CBS

I’ve never watched the show that someone named Steve Colbert hosts on CBS late at night. Ya, I’m a senior and I tend to go to bed around 11PM unless I’m enjoying the company of friends over another glass of wine. Anyway, there’s a big stink over some sort of monologue that this Colbert guy recently gave.

I finally saw a clip of the episode on Fox News’ Hannity tonight and was genuinely shocked that such a profane, disrespectful, disgusting rant would be allowed to the air on the (formerly) distinguished CBS network.

As a former news man, I always respected CBS for it’s perspective….that is until the famous scandal involving Dan Rather’s phony story on President HW Bush’s military record.

Anyway, CBS should issue an apology at least and it would be great if they completely banned this buffoon Colbert from the air. Actually, I’m a bit surprised that there isn’t some sort of legislative prohibition against this disgusting episode.

Mental Health Ads Miss Real Problem

We’ve all been deluged by ads in recent months from various mental health advocacy groups encouraging everyone to recognize mental health as an issue that can affect everyone; that no one should be afraid to talk about it, yada yada yada.

While that all is very true, I wonder if we aren’t missing the point, that is, the REAL problem facing our society concerning mental health.

Today, the Old Ruminator had occasion to make a sojourn into the heart of Vancouver. On two occasions, while trying to navigate the nightmare that is described as traffic, I had to deal to an obviously very troubled individual suffering from some sort of psychosis. The first fellow insisted on not finishing his crossing at a crosswalk. He may have been drunk but my impression is he was suffering from some sort of hallucinogenic or mental illness. Within 20 blocks I encountered my second “patient” who insisted on standing in the middle of the curb lane, refusing to move. I was unfortunate enough to find myself bumper to kneecap with the poor soul after the bus in front of me lurched into the middle lane. There he stood, cursing at me and thrusting his middle finger at me. I gave him a little “beep” and, in my best imitation of a Sister of Mercy, gave the look of “please, sir, would you kindly let me pass?” , at which he mouthed “F….. you” and made a Dirty Harry shooting motion with his right hand. I eventually managed to navigate my way around him, with virtually hundreds of hard working tax paying, contributing members of society jammed in traffic behind me, trying to make their way home after a hard days work.

These poor, unfortunate souls really shouldn’t be in the middle of city traffic, raging against life. They should be in an institution, medicated and comforted. But why are mental health advocacy groups completely ignoring this crisis? Is it because they fear they will not be able to navigate their cause through the idiots described as our Supreme Court Justices? I suspect so.

It’s much easier to broadcast messages that all of us are just a single, unfortunate turn of events away from some sort of mental catastrophe. I’m not sure what good that does for society or for the poor individuals who have encountered such maladies, but maybe it makes the advocacy groups feel they are doing something worthwhile.

Canadian Turks Try to Refute Armenian Genocide

A reprehensible half-page ad appears in today’s National Post. I was disgusted by it, but in the spirit of ‘freedom of speech’ must accept the author’s right to have it published. If only those who paid for the ad, also believed in truth, and freedom of expression.

In a nutshell, something called the “Turkish Canadians Peace and Solidarity Platform” (TCPSP) which one suspects is a cover group for a Turkish government propaganda arm, is claiming the Armenians are somehow subverting Canadian cultural diversity by propagating lies about the Armenian Genocide. The general claim is that many many Muslims were also killed in the First World War, so why point fingers at the Armenian Genocide?  It’s the classic smoke and mirrors/ red-herring campaign. Instead of getting down on their knees and apologizing to the Armenians, Turkish Muslims are stridently blaming the victims for bad press about the genocide.  The TCPSP has the unmitigated gall to claim that Armenians are somehow upsetting Canadian cultural peaceful coexistance by pointing out that Turkish Muslims systematically murdered or starved to death millions of Christian Armenian men, women and children at the turn of the century. (Actually, tens or hundreds of thousands of boys were kept alive following the murder of their parents in order that they might be forcefully converted to Islam or kept as sexual slaves. This is the Islamic practice of “devsirme”, practiced for the last 14 hundred years upon all conquered peoples.)

France and Mainstream Media Bias

I admit I don’t know much about Marine Le Pen, but only a casual read of the day’s news coverage following her spectacular showing in the French election ‘primary’ suggests she will have an uphill struggle against the mainstream media.  And we consumers of news in North America will have to take the reporting of events in France with a hefty dose of skepticism.

My first example is from an online CNN report today

“In the next two weeks, Macron will build on his pro-European, centrist message while Le Pen made it clear she would intensify the nationalist, anti-Islamist rhetoric that propelled her into the second round.”

Notice that our neutral, objective CNN reporter juxtaposes Macron’s “message” against Le Pen’s “rhetoric”.  Hmmmmm

In many other reports in Canadian media today there are innumerable references to Le Pen’s “pessimistic” and “dark” policies, compared to Macron’s “optimistic” policies.  Look, I get it that different people will interpret things differently, but the media is SUPPOSED to offer an unbiased interpretation of world events. Is it not possible that those millions for French citizens who voted for Le Pen, may actually believe her policies to be “optimistic” and “bright” for France’s future? As a former senior journalist with one of Canada’s leading News Organizations, the Old Ruminator, is perfectly capable of understanding events without some junior reporter, fresh out of a left-leaning University with a Communications degree, lending their worldly opinion to the day’s news coverage.

Trump Explained – America First

It seems, that after seven months, the mainstream media is still completely incapable of figuring out Donald Trump? Or, more likely, it’s just a continuation of their willful ignorance in an attempt to complicate and obfuscate his policies.

The President’s recent actions in Syria and Afghanistan are being interpreted by many mainstream media leftists as “flip-flopping” on his position of “America First.”  Well, perhaps a Canadian, can explain things to them.

In my humble opinion, President Trump’s “America First” declaration is primarily aimed at repudiating the years of Obama kowtowing to the UN, and his many public statements denigrating the United States. It is also aimed at economic policies such as Free Trade Treaties which risked or sacrificed American jobs and weakened America’s geopolitical influence. It is also aimed at Obama’s history of imperiling American self-interest in favour of some pie-in-the-sky theory such as anthropomorphic global warming.

“America First” does NOT mean a complete retreat to isolationism and Trump has never suggesting any such thing. Where it is felt that American’s safety or interests may be threatened by activities elsewhere in the world, Trump will by all means take action to influence foreign events in American’s favour. That’s what “America First” is all about; not some mamby pamby notion that by joining hands with countries such as Iran and singing Koombaya, the world’s problems (and by extension, America’s) will be fixed.

“America First” is about leading from the front. It’s about standing firm on principals enshrined in the American Constitution. It’s about facing down tin pot dictatorships in Syria and loony tune tyrants in North Korea. No, there will be no Nobel Peace prizes or UN glad-handing. But America please know, there are people in this world, outside of United States, who are damn glad you have elected President Trump who is re-establishing your nation as a beacon of freedom for the entire globe.

Canada’s History – Courtesy of CBC tax dollars and an LGBQT? Committee

A politically correct, social activist version of history.

You’d think after all these years I’d know better, but the eternal optimist that I am, I ventured to watch the opening couple episodes of CBC’s “The Story of Us”. I actually held out hope against hope that the modern CBC, bad as it is, might actually come up with something resembling an accurate portrayal of Canadian History to celebrate our 150th year of Confederation. After all, didn’t the CBC produce an entertaining and informative TV version of Pierre Burton’s “The National Dream”, 30 or 40 years ago?

Well, what we get for God knows how many millions of wasted taxpayer dollars is a mish mash of half witted nonsense which clearly was written by a rather large committee of LDBGDQ etc., and native activists. Every episode has at least one or more aboriginal hero, no matter what the subject matter. Ditto, for the brave women of yesteryear. As for the bumbling white male colonialist puppets….well they are often portrayed as fools who would have perished if not for being rescued by the much wiser and smarter Indians and females.

Then, in order to completely destroy any semblance of objectivity, the “docudrama” rolls out cameo statements from a host of 2nd rate Canadian actors who clearly haven’t got a clue. I mean do we really need fringe actors spewing siropy sycophantic nonsense at every turn. How about some bona fide historians? Maybe that would help put things in a proper context.

Look, anyone with half a brain knows that women and native peoples played a key role in Canada’s formative years and ongoing history. But it’s as if a committee of left-leaning radicals sat down and decided they were going to re-write history to capture every modern-day grievance rolled out at our so-called “universities” and confront those grievances through revisionist history. Kind of like what the Marxists did to the Romanovs.

I really don’t have the courage or the stomach to tune into any further episodes of this farce. I fear of running across a gay Sir John A in bed with Cartier, maybe with a lesbian native servant who rescues them from reputational ruin with the help of a few transgendered former slaves fleeing the imperialist U.S.

Canada is a Christian Nation

Ooooo. This is going to be sooooo politicially incorrect. But truth is truth and is not biased.

It is a good idea, every now and again, to re-affirm for the benefit all those out there who are drawn along with the current PM’s agenda of a secularist government, that Canada has forever been a Christian nation. We were founded by Christians on Christian principals. There were no Sikhs, Buddhists, or Hindus, or any other non-Christians among the Founding Fathers. Our national anthem, in it’s original French version, proudly describes our nation as a Christian entity bearing a cross.

Our Constitutional head of government, the Queen, is also the religious leader of one of Christianity’s major branches (the Church of England). All new Canadians, regardless of their religion are required to swear an oath of allegiance to the Queen.

Unlike the United States, whose constitution distinctly mandates a separation of Church and State (the so-called “establishment clause”) there is no such reference whatsoever in the Canadian Constitution.

Many of Canada’s provinces have constitutionally protected funding for Christian/Catholic schools. Many of the leading hospitals and Universities were at one time ALL Christian owned and operated and today, still many are owned and operated by Christian/Catholic entities.

The vast majority of Canadians are Christians and more than 3 out of 4 Canadians believe in God.

Contrary to popular belief, Canadians have not always been welcoming to immigrants; especially non-Christian immigrants. It was only within the last half of the 20th Century that Canada began to welcome non-Christian immigrants, with the clear understanding that they MUST adapt their culture to Canadian Christian values.

Our current Liberal government, in appealing to the non-Christian vote, has adopted a revisionist historical storyline suggesting that Canada has always been “multi-cultural”.  Well, to the extent that the French, Irish, Scottish and English were of different cultural backgrounds that might be true. Then, came the Germans, Ukranians, Italians, Poles, Swedes, Greeks, etc. All predominantly Christians of one sort or another.

In the last 20 to 30 years, there have been millions of non-Christians admitted to Canada. So many non-Christians have been admitted that many new immigrants now seem to think Canada has always been a multi-racial, multi-religious society. That is not true. Up until about 1970 Canada was essentially a homogeneous, religiously Christian and culturally European society. There were very small pockets of non-Christian, non-European populations in only the very largest to our cities. And in rural areas, Canada’s indigenous populations were inevitably practicing Christians.

Just setting the record straight.

“Identipols” pass foolish Grit and NDP “Islamophobia” resolution

Well the Liberal and NDP stooges who pass for elected representatives of ALL Canadians did their best this week to drive a wedge through Canadian society by playing identity politics. They rammed a nonsensical but dangerous resolution through Parliament which implied that the only religious group suffering injustice in Canada are Muslims.

The only adequate response to this is for Conservative MPs is to introduce identical resolutions; each one with identical language EXCEPT simply replacing “Islamophobia” with “Anti-Semitism”, “Christophobia”, etc.

That will require the Liberals and the New Democrats to either support or shoot down the resolutions; the latter action clearly identifying them as race baiters and identipols. (Def. Individuals who exploit cultural or religious differences to gain political advantage)

British Home-Grown Muslim Terrorist No Surprise

It’s one thing when Muslims raised in far-flung Muslim hell holes  want to destroy Western Civilization. But it’s particularly concerning that a Muslim, born and bred in Britain’s freedom loving society does it. Yet, we shouldn’t be surprised.  Khalid Masood was born in Britain but one must suspect the ever present and false Muslim claims of victimhood and racism got his blood boiling.  And it probably didn’t help that his sense of subjugation was egged on by Liberal commentators and ivory tower academics claiming Islam ( a so-called “religion of peace”) has been victimized for centuries by Christianity.

We don’t yet know what lies his father and mother might have told him in his formative years. But one suspects he got the usual Muslim indoctrination that all Muslim kids get. Basically, that God supports Muslims killing others for the sake of Islam.

Masood probably got another dose of indoctrination at school. The absurd Liberal historical revisionist who teaches that the Crusades were all about Christian conquest while ignoring 14 centuries of Muslim atrocities on Christians, Jews and others, is playing into the hands of weak-minded and easily led fools like Masood.

Where is the Outrage? No Riots Following Ban on Laptops from Islamic Countries

So, when President Trump tries to restrict undocumented potential terrorists from Islamic hell holes of the world, it’s “racist”.  But now that Federal Aviation officials have banned laptops and other electronics on flights from Islamic countries, where’s the outrage? Doesn’t it follow that if banning people from only “Predominantly Muslim Countries” (as CNN and CBC likes to phrase it) is racists, then banning their stuff is also racist?

Or could it be that there’s a damn good reason to ban the people and their stuff from Muslim countries?  Perhaps because they are flying out of lawless countries riven with Muslim terrorists and terroist wannabes and there is no valid way of tracking them, it is a good idea to restrict their flow into the civilized west.

I am heartened to see the Washington Post, The Independent and the BBC all describing the current electronics ban as being placed on “majority Muslim”or “Islamic” countries.  The media in Canada is having great difficulty navigating their way around reports of the ban even going to the extreme of naming all ten countries or so while avoiding the obvious; they’re ALL Muslim and they’re all coincidentally among the same countries whose citizens were banned by Trump.
